I am the only one that I know who does not like Banana Pudding ( I am allergic to bananas and can't stand them, not even the smell) but it really looks so pretty in the bowl. So far be it from me to deny anyone else, and this reciepe for the always lovely Bakarella looks good .This recipe was taken from the "Great American Favorite Brand Name Cookbook c.1993"

{Cold & Creamy Banana Pudding}

1 (14-ounce) can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 1/2 cups cold water
1 (3.5 ounce) package instant pudding and pie filling
2 cups (1 pint) whipped cream, whipped*
36 vanilla wafers
3 medium bananas, sliced and dipped in lemon juice

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine sweetened condensed milk and water.
  • Add pudding mix and beat until well blended.
  • Chill 5 minutes in refrigerator.
  • Fold in whipped topping. (Do this slowly and as few times as you possible to combine, so the mixture will retain its thickness.)
  • Spoon 1 cup pudding mixture into 2 1/2 quart glass serving bowl.
  • Top with 1/3 each of wafers, bananas and pudding. Repeat twice.
  • Garnish as desired.
  • Chill thoroughly. Refrigerate any leftovers.

You can also layer in individual serving dishes.

* I’m not quite clear what “whipped cream, whipped” means, but I just used Cool Whip and let it thaw slightly before I started to fold. It may work even better if you let it thaw in the fridge before using.

DIY CALLIGRAPHY: A TUTORIAL

I have always had a secret obsession with calligraphy , especially those artist like eDanae, who still use the old-world method of steel-nib dipped in ink to produce these gorgeous products as pictured on the left. But, sadly, if you are lacking the steady hands or patience that a calligrapher needs...or your penmanship just sucks, there are options out there for those D.I.Y'ers.

The D.I.Y calligraphy tutorial is brought to you by Instructables. This method lets you create beautiful calligraphy with a minimal amount of stress and annoyance. For the full tutorial please visit the original post at Industructables.

All you need is a:
-printer
-envelopes(or whatever product you are using)
-removable scotch tape
-calligraphy ink
-calligraphy dipping pen

(click on font name to download)
PLEASE NOTE: you can buy calligraphy supplies from Dick Blick or any art supply store.
Helpful Hint: If you are putting calligraphy on envelopes, use Scotch Removable Tape and tack the envelope down with two pieces before you run it down the printer. This reduces the risk of the envelope flap jamming the printer.

CUTENESS OF THE DAY: MEME

This cat is adorable....the name is Meme, from Japan. I love the "Exotic Shorthair" breed of cat... also known as the "Lazy Man's Persian". The big eyes and "smushy" face give them a great expressive face ,even though that " pushed in face" is technically a "genetic mutation"..
To see the adventures of Meme, go to the blog of Sakurakos Shimizu

With more people going green and limiting there use of plastic bags, this soft Tote Bag tutorial from Martha Stewart is a great little afternoon project. This tutorial is so simple to make that you can make multiples of them in different colors for shopping, groceries or anything else that you need to use it for.

{INSTRUCTIONS}

1. Print the full-size template. Cut out template, and trace onto heavyweight felt ( 2-millimeter-thick material from filzfelt.com is pictured; 1/2 yard of fabric is enough for 1 bag) with a fabric pen, and cut out; repeat to make a second cutout. Stack pieces.

2. Using a sewing machine, stitch around the sides and bottom of bag, leaving 1/4-inch seam allowance. Then stitch top of each handle.

SNAPSHOT: JESSICA PURVIS

As everyone knows I am always on a quest to take better photos so I love looking at the works of different photographers. Right now I am on a quest to get a "grown up camera", lol and have been bugging my good friend ( who is a fantastic photographer ) about cameras. Because there are so many great photographers work that I love, I decided to start my "Snapshot Series", to introduce others to photographers that I like.

My first photographer is Jessica Purvis, who specializes in weddings and fine art photography. One of the reason that I like her work is that fact that she mixes traditional with abstract. You can also see the "bucolic" influence in her work....which may come from the fact that she is based in the southern cities of Savannah and Atlanta Georgia.
